Artist statement:
My outcome in this project consisted of two elements: a physical three-piece sculpture and a film. The sculpture explores my key discoveries from the reference site, Didsbury Parsonage: movement and the effects of nature. Its design takes inspiration from the use of systems to repeat and rotate patterns in the ironwork on site.
I incorporated the Golden Ratio to create a fluid, moving structure, which I embellished with abstract details. I intentionally left the surface of the piece unfinished and unprotected to reflect the impermanence of the ironwork at the Parsonage, highlighting how the work will change and degrade over time.

The film delves into the dual atmosphere I experienced at the Parsonage. I edited audio recordings of birdsong and overlaid them with footage of the manufacturing process to unite these contrasting emotions.
